Michael Jackson drug use causes concern

Michael Jackson drug use causes concernNow the emotion of his farewell on Tuesday has had time to subside, the police investigation into Michael Jackson’s medication history is once more in play.

According to documents obtained by CNN, the singer had an ongoing addiction to Xanax, a panic management drug; Known to be consuming more than ten pills a night, Jackson hid the addiction by having his bodyguards get prescriptions in their own names, or by visiting out-of-state doctors to get more supplies.

LAPD Chief, William Bratton told reporters his detectives had interviewed several doctors who treated Mr. Jackson and are actively examining the singer’s drug use. But they are awaiting the results of lab tests to choose their next move, “Based on those reports, we will know if we’re dealing with a homicide or an accidental overdose,” he said.

CNN’s medical expert, Sanjay Gupta was shocked by the amount of pills Michael used, once as high as 30-40 Xanax pills a night, “This is extremely high,” Gupta said. “It’s a huge red flag. Even with the tolerance that most addicts develop, this is exceedingly high for any human being.”

Documentary evidence proves Mr. Jackson ordered four of his security staff to get him pills in their names, and as many as five other doctors â€" most out-of-state â€" were also supplying the singer with drugs.

After a 2006 comeback was canceled because of his health, sister, Janet, decided on direct intervention. She and two Jackson brothers went to Neverland to see Michael, but he locked them all out and would not take their calls. The family later released a statement denying this happened â€" but Janet’s signature was not on that form.

The LAPD investigation, assisted by the state Attorney General’s office and the DEA, has made a list of Doctors they wish to interview to discover exactly what drugs Michael got. The list includes Dr. Arnold Klein - Jackson’s dermatologist, who told reporters Jackson was addicted to medications, but had since  kicked the habit.

It’s also known that Mr. Jackson had tried to obtain Diprivan - a sedative so powerful, it is used to render patients unconscious for medical procedures  During their search of the singer’s $100,000-a-month rented home in the Holmby Hills, investigators found numerous medications - and Diprivan is thought to be among that sad haul.

With the real possibility this could become a criminal case if the tests show bad news, Police are understandably tight-lipped on the facts, “With search warrants, we were able to seize a number of items from the residence, and these will assist in the investigation,” is all Police Chief, William Bratton would say to the press.
