NBA star ducks his own wedding but sends his credit card instead
In the NBA, when a player sits out the entire game, it’s denoted as a DNP, for ‘did not play’. This past weekend NBA star Richard Jefferson got a DNM, for ‘did not marry’.
According to the New York Post, Jefferson was scheduled to marry former New Jersey Nets dancer Kesha Ni’Cole Nichols. Jefferson, formerly of the Nets, was recently traded from Milwaukee to San Antonio and evidently also broke off his engagement with his fiancée, just before the weekend, according to sources.
She immediately called her family and friends to say the ceremony was off. But Jefferson waited much longer, to tell his guests.
Many showed up at the Mandarin Oriental in New York City expecting to see a wedding but instead they found that Jefferson had gone MIA. However, he did lend his friend his AMEX Black credit card and told him to treat the guests to a fun night without him.
