Steve McNair was murder-suicide - killed by lover while he was asleep

After investigating and reviewing forensic tests, police are now saying former NFL star Steve McNair was shot dead in his sleep last week by his 20-year-old girlfriend. The medical examiner also confirmed earlier reports that Kazemi was found face down in the condo with the gun underneath her. The autopsy indicates she shot herself once through her right temple and fell face down at the feet of McNair, who was shot on a couch.  McNair was shot twice in the head and twice in the chest. Three of the shots that killed McNair were taken from a distance, but one of the shots to the temple came from just inches away. The gun that killed Kazemi was in contact with her head when it discharged, medical examiner Bruce Levy said Tuesday.

Investigators say they may never know exactly why Kazemi shot McNair four times as he dozed on a sofa early Saturday before turning the gun on herself. Police divulged though that interviews with friends revealed that she was making payments on two cars, her rent was doubling and she suspected the married McNair was having a second affair with another young woman. Looking from the outside I think police are missing a much simpler explanation. While police have said previously they were still unsure of a motive for the alleged murder-suicide, the classic jilted lover angle seems a good possibility, though we probably will never know for sure. According to earlier reports, no one close to McNair knew that he had been having an affair with Kazemi. Even his wife was in the dark until the bodies were found.  A relative of hers, said that Kazemi had expected McNair to leave his wife within a few weeks to be with her.  But that does not seem to be the case as McNair had reportedly not broached that subject with his wife.  The Tennessean is reporting  that Kazemi put her furniture up for sale on Craigslist on July 2, which seems to support the theory she thought she was going to move in with McNair.
